******************* The Tour des Farms 2008
The Tour des Farms is a project of the Eastern Connecticut and King’s Mark Resource Conservation and Development Councils (RC&Ds). Since 2003, these bicycle rides have toured the beautiful agricultural countryside of Connecticut, raising money and awareness for the diversity and vitality of Connecticut’s farms. This year, there will be two rides to choose from (see http://www.tourdesfarms.org/event.htm for more details):
Simsbury, September 20th, 2008. This is a leisure ride designed to highlight several of Connecticut's beautiful orchards and farms. There will be a single route for this year's ride approximately 24-mile loop that will visit many farmstands and contains a variety of rolling hills. Shelton, September 27th, 2008.
Pedal through some of Connecticut’s most
beautiful farmland. Get to know the diversity of Connecticut’s agricultural
production. You can shop for local produce as you ride and we will pick up
your purchases and deliver them back to the gathering spot for you. Ride
options are a 10 mile route; 19 mile route; 28 mile route; and a metric
century (62 mile route) with stops at a rose farm, vegetable farms,
orchards, nurseries, and a winery. *******************
